My Magenta

During my short visit in the Faroes I decided to buy a stone lithography by one of my favorite graphic artists Marius Olsen. His work appeals to me, not just because he´s faroese, but because to me, he depicts the islands as isolated, cold, lonely, breathtaking, a bit depressing and spellbound. And that´s how I feel when I´m home. I do like his dark work but apparently I can´t resist the share force of Magenta and ended up buying pic. # 3. So for now we have three pink´ish lithographys and black & white linoleum prints by my mother. All of this means that I´ll have to take a trip to IKEA to buy at least 8 Ribba frames plus avoid magenta prints from now.

Wanna play?

Kristjans father Petur is visiting us in Denmark. He´s never been to Sweden so we´ll be taking a mini trip to Sweden this weekend. True to my tradition I´ll have to pay a visit to Design Torget and Åhlens. I´d like to get me a predivided cake mold and a "Tit" memory, but I´m thinking my brother and cousins won´t be thrilled when I take out my Tit-memory to play with there children, so I´ll go with mustache which is fun too, but not in the same way.

Honduras was one big Déjá vu trip for me (in the bestest of ways) One of the best déjà vu like experienc was the reunion with my old and incredible enough forgotten acquaintance Tres Leches. Kristjan and I arrived in La Ceiba a sunday afternoon starving. Everything was closed except Wendy´s and Pizza Hut. We vent for pizza and I was craving some dessert. Tres Leches was on the menu and I instantly recalled that the cake was good but than I took the first bite..... it was like an explosion of ten year old memories, smells, sounds, sights, and not to forget tastes. Anyways how I could forget something so scrumptious as Tres Leches pastel I´ll never know, but I promise this I´ll never forget what now has become my favorite dessert of all time Tres Leches.
Info: Tres leches or Pastel de Tres leches, is a cake soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and either whole milk or cream. When butter is not used, the tres leches is a very light cake, with many air bubbles. This distinct texture is why it does not have a soggy consistency, despite being soaked in a mixture of three types of milk.

Icelandic napkins

My cousin bought these napkins in Iceland and knew that I would love them. She was right. I think the idea of making a napkin of the "national" sweater is so simple and great. Guðrun og Guðrun should definitely do the same with there faroese knitting patterns.

Zapatos por favor

Shoes are cheap in Honduras and to make it even better the sale had started so I could buy two pares and get one free. Dangerous... I ended up buying six pares of shoes and seven wool/cashmere scarfs. Happy shoe-scarf-days!
