easy peasy green cake

This is one of the first cakes I learned how to make, as a young girl. It's a must for children's birthday parties and you can make it any colour you wish or no colour at all. It's basically a downgraded cheap mazarin cake without marzipan.

bake at 180 degrees celsius for 45 min.
Ingredients:
200 g suger
150 g butter
2 eggs
3 tbsp almond extract
1 tbsp green food colouring
150 g plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 dl water

Method:
Beat the sugar and butter until a smooth paste. Add the eggs, one at a time and fully incorporate
before adding the next egg.
Pour in the almond extract and the green food colouring, mix well so all the batter is evenly coloured.
Fold in the flour, baking powder and water.
Pour the batter in to a buttered ring mold.

Frosting:
200 g icing suger
3 tbsp boiling water
3 tbsp coco powder

Method:
Mix all the ingredients and cover the cake when cooled.

Hello!

I'm back after a LONG break from blogging. There are two big changes in our lives since I blogged last. I'm again a student and Kristjan got a new job. So we are both enjoying the NEW and all that comes along with it.
We spent one lovely week togeather with my brother and his family and than five glorious weeks in the Faroe Islands(pictures to come later).
I made some great looking and tasting cookies that never fail for Kristjans last day at work. The recipe is HERE and I add coco powder and some extra chocolate of course:-)

Random interior

Kristjan got a new job and with it a vintage bag for his computer. 5$ for Nikolina Floras favorite sandals. MUST remember my liquor flask for our trip home to the Faroes. Awfully lot of cosy reading going on these days. Child friendly summer barbecuing. Possible candidate for new chair cover. The fabric is 70's Marimekko.

Barcelona II

Just realized that I have not really blogged about the city of Barcelona and my first terrific trip to Spain.
All I wanted the whole trip was to taste some churros, but there were no churros to be found...that until the very last day, when I went for a walk alone to explore and past an older couple who kindly showed me the way to Xurreria :P
I watched him make them and they were scrumptious. By far the best churros I have ever tasted!

cold rise oat buns

I love the way children at a certain age like to help all the time. I'm committed to involve and say thanks for all the help Nikolina Flora provides. If she is anything like her mother...well let's just say, that I'm enjoying it as long as it lasts.

btw I toast the oats to induce flavor and I cover the bowl with greaseproof paper soaked in water - it just feels wrong to use aluminum foil when talking anything food related.

But now whilst writing this post, I've learned that greaseproof paper is paper soaked in sulfuric acid or zinc chloride :-/

You had me at crack

I never did receive a 10 year anniversary gift from Kristjan. Whilst other woman my wish for diamonds and such...well then I'm cheap in comparison. I'd love to unwrap the Momofuku Milk Bar recipe book filled with baked gods. The mouthwatering recipes include the trademarked Crack Pie and Cereal Milk.

"velbekomme"

There's a series of articles about danish chefs and their kitchen at home on Politiken.dk. There's not much "less is more" over the majority of the kitchens - I find the pictures to exude charm, presence and warmth.
Notice how many of them own and have a BEKVÄM (IKEA stool) in there kitchen

Addictive

Oh the joy - it's that time of the year again! I was a quick trip to Malmö last month and I bought the mandatory Semla bun. The swedes eat Semlor at Shrovetide - I however think that they and I should eat Semlor all year around! Come Shrovetide and I'll be making some Semlor off my one. They're easy to make and too delicious!
