Danish ceramics

I tend to either only have glass decor in my apartment or only ceramics. Do not like mixing them together (I´m bit of a bore). Here are my favorite ceramic pots. The turquoise is actually not mine, but my mothers (I borrowed/stole it some time ago). It´s danish and made in the 80s. I love the color and the shape. The other pot is from the 60s and danish as well.

Cute as a Snail

I bought three Lantern vases and this Snail Box at Jonathan Adler in Soho. I could not resist the cuteness of the Snail Box. The Snail is now the first thing you see when you enter our apartment.

Drip Away

WAUW DESIGNs vases had an wauw effect on me at this years annual Crafts Market at Vor Frue Plads in Copenhagen. The way the cool pastel colors intertwine, drip and fade into each other. They make me think of candy and 70´s German ceramics - good combo!

Shake your pestle

Here is yet another post from the anual Crafts Market in Copenhagen. Just have to show you the work of Lise Damsager Hansen. Her ceramic kitchen utensils are so simple, graphic and organic. To me her work is reminiscent of the Shaker style. Lovely!

You Little Teapot

The one thing at the Crafts Market that really made me think was/is the ”You Little Teapot” project, which is a collaboration between ceramic artist Lars Christian Rank and writer/artist Tomas Lagermand Lundme. The project has an agenda where a simple view of the world gives life to textual statements about sexuality, politics and daily life. Lundmes figurative drawings of faces, figures and sentences gives the ceramic a story telling dimension with an ambiguity, moral and political stand. In that way two different modes of expression glide together and give one another meaning.

What not to buy

My budget these days is at a minimal, because of the wedding next year. Having said that...then I could not visit the kraft fair and not buy anything. I had kinda before hand desisted to buy something from Rigmor Als and I fell for this small salad plate in bright yellow. I also had to have the two candle holders by Jesper Ranum just because they were so cheap. I´ll maby give them as a gift to someone. My mom bought two gorgeous teapots by Gurli Elbækgaard and a scissor.

Typographic Hornsea

Hornsea Pottery isn´t that common in Denmark, however Julie a friend has this wonderful graphic mug by Hornsea. It´s the one thing she wished to inherit when her grandmother past away, as the mug had much sentimental value. Must say I´m loving the typographic elephant look. It´s made by John Clappison an english ceramic and glass designer.
