Couture beer

Vibskov/Emenius did the Fringe Project nr. 2 in Feb. 2008, which is the layout and decoration for the new malt beer by danish micro brewery Mikkeller. The bottles are hand-decorated with black fringes and have a fierce graphical look. There were only a 1000 bottles made, so I guess they´ll become a collectors item for fashionistas, graphical freaks and beer lovers. I´ve never seen such a fabulous beer bottle, but the problem is that I don´t drink beer. My older sister Tóra on the other hand loves beer (lived in Germany for a year ...go figure) and has a closet full of Vibskov clothes. Shame she lives in the Faroe Islands and can´t drink fashionabel beer.

Strange how sometimes when you learn something new like the meaning of a word, it will keep popping up in different places. Like Dahlia which I learned the other day thanks to my fellow bloggers, was the name of my Tivoli flower (and in danish it´s popularly called Georgine). Anyways I bought the newest Bolig Liv and low and behold there was a whole section about ...you guessed it Dahlia.

You Little Teapot

The one thing at the Crafts Market that really made me think was/is the ”You Little Teapot” project, which is a collaboration between ceramic artist Lars Christian Rank and writer/artist Tomas Lagermand Lundme. The project has an agenda where a simple view of the world gives life to textual statements about sexuality, politics and daily life. Lundmes figurative drawings of faces, figures and sentences gives the ceramic a story telling dimension with an ambiguity, moral and political stand. In that way two different modes of expression glide together and give one another meaning.

What not to buy

My budget these days is at a minimal, because of the wedding next year. Having said that...then I could not visit the kraft fair and not buy anything. I had kinda before hand desisted to buy something from Rigmor Als and I fell for this small salad plate in bright yellow. I also had to have the two candle holders by Jesper Ranum just because they were so cheap. I´ll maby give them as a gift to someone. My mom bought two gorgeous teapots by Gurli Elbækgaard and a scissor.

Home sweet home

I was looking at my blog last night and realized that under "our home" under Labels really weren´t any pictures of our home as such. So here are some of our dining- and living room. The red arrows show the AJ lamp and teak candleholders I was talking about in Batman goes Danish. Click on image to enlarge.

Batman goes Danish

I was so entertained by the new Batman movie The Dark Night. Heath Ledgers performance is outstanding and indeed oscar worthy. The special effects were very impressive and something else impressed me too, that of the amount of danish design and how visible it was. The look of Bruce Waynes (Christian Bale) bedroom was modern & minimalist, there were like three BeoLab 5 loudspeakers, one BeoVision TV and four AJ lamps like the one in our living room. Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) had quite the mid century modern office with a dozen teak candleholders, like the three ones I have and a beautiful Finn Juhl chieftain chair. If I had to choose I would go for Lucius office any day!

bARBARA í gONGINI

I went to bARBARA í gONGINIs fashion show this weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was awesome and very dramatic. The bride made a wild statement at the end and people were surprised. Budam preformed as well. All together a cool experience. bARBARA is a faroese fashion designer based in Denmark. bARBARA í gONGINIs style is explained on her site as: "The aim of the company is to create Nordic clothing based on a conceptual approach to the process, where experiments with forms provide the setting for the visual motive in the design."
