Щелкунчик - The Nutcracker

Magasin is all ready for Christmas to come. The windows are decorated in five different colors, the five colors of the Nutcracker Magasin have made in a collaboration with Red Cross and their "Barnelandet" project. The "Barnelandet" is an aid program for orphans in Zimbabwe. The project includes preliminary 53.000 orphans. All the nutcrackers are for sale, and I think I will be buying one, but which color?

November Rain

In order to survive november month I have to decorate a bit and make our apartment more cosy. Here are some pictures... The Nativity I bought in Honduras some ten years ago (I´m sure that I´ll be using it for at least ten more) Rannvá and I have been busy lately and thrifting. All the blue plates are from our excursions exept the Musselmalet Blue Fluted Half Lace.

Happy B-day

It´s my grandfathers 85th brithday to day...oh and my high school sweetheart Annfinn. Two very special men. I dedicate this song to them!

Subtle christmas ornament

Here are some lovely subtile christmas ornaments from House Doctor. Subtle christmas decorating is something I don´t do. Not that I don´t like shuttle, but I tend to go way overboard. I´m curtain that it has something to do with childhood – I´ve always wished for colored lights on our christmas tree, but my mom only wanted white lights so my parents decorated my room with "tacky" colored lights and everything else "tacky" I wanted to decorate I got to do, just as long as it was in my room. Children are smart you know... and I certainly felt the clear resentment towards my so called tacky decoration. Today I get my own revenge once a year. The 1st December I buy a 2,5 meter high tree and go nuts with my "tacky" colored lights and ornaments. On my mothers defense: I´m sure that I´ll do the same and let my children go nuts in their own rooms and maintain my style in the rest of the house. Makes sense.

LIFE Google

Google announced today that they're now hosting around 10 million photos from the LIFE photo archives on Google Image search. You can search the photos - that range from the 1750s to present day - directly from the LIFE photo archive start page, or you can simply include source:life with any Google Image search query. If you give it a spin, share some of your favorite photos in the comments.

Beetles & plates

My bosom friend Rannvá and I had a great day this sunday. We went on a thrifting trip to Valby, Danmark Hallen. We both ended up buying a lot of plates. Rannvá bought 5 plates and I two. We also had some Churros with ice-cream (So very good) On our way out I bougth two prints of beetles. Kristjan has held both of the beetles in his hand on our Honduras trip, so he for once was pleased with my thrifting buys.

The coasters Leftovers are designed by Myrica Bergqvist, they are perfect for both glasses and large candles and are available in ten colors. I´d love them even more if they seriously are leftovers, but I can´t confirm that they are.

Tranquebar

Tranquebar is a fair trade café in the center of Copenhagen. I´ve been there twice on my own just chilling and having a cup of tea ...there is a great international atmosphere in a fair trade kind a way. There is a good vide range og books, beverages and fair trade curiosa.

Long needed facelift

Our spare bedroom has undergone a long needed facelift. We bought 2½ white Billy/Byom some time ago. There are several great things about Billy/Byom. The first is that the doors prevent dust entering, the bookcases are white which makes them less visible and they are only 28 cm or 11 " deep, again makes them less visible and yesterday we finally got around hanging some pictures up on the walls. If you´re wondering why the pictures are hanging the way they are, than there is no other reason then the pictures are covering holes and nasty plastering. We´re so pleased with the overall results that we slept there last night.

Great news

My computer is up and running. I or should I say Kristjan installed Mac OS X Leopard and Adobe C3. So I´ll be posting regularly from today on, promise! Until then here is a ingenious and cute as hell commercial, enjoy!

Cushions & Wire

Over the weekend I finished my very first teapot-cushion. Must say (as the Faroese football team always say) it was a learning experience. I´m planning on sowing more cushion in the nearest future. Kristjan changed the old ugly yellow wire with a new fresh cyen fabricqe wire. The wire is still unnoticed by frineds/family that have visited.
